biography
I thoroughly enjoyed my career as a Clinical Psychologist and feel honored to have been a witness and collaborator in the personal transformations of many people. I now have the opportunity to explore my passion in the creation of art. I love the human figure, which I explore through sculpture and painting, and abstract images. I use a little known printmaking technique called "Viscosity Printing" that uses the principle of ink viscosity and a varied depth relief surface of the plate to print multiple colors of ink from a single plate, rather than relying upon multiple plates to achieve color separation. I see myself as a student of life, always looking forward to new lessons and experiences of discovery.

I find printmaking the ideal medium for non-representational abstract expression; the attempt to create images that have not previously existed and that have meaning and feeling for the viewer. I do not title my work, as I want each person to have his or her own experience without suggestion from me. Several times from the response of a viewer I have experienced something new in a piece that I did not realize on my own. I also appreciate that it is a unique person that is drawn to an abstract image and who wants to look deeply into something that is unknown or unfamiliar that somehow speaks to them.
The primary purpose of printmaking has been to duplicate the same exact image several times. However my approach is to make a unique, one-of-a-kind image from a plate just like an original oil painting. Very different images are achieved from the same plate by varying the colors and the inking process I use.
