ROBERT SIMOLA

I am perpetual student wandering along the path of life watching water drops in the grass sparkle in the early morning sunlight and listening to the cacophany of frogs shatter the stars into sugar crystals frosting heaven at night. For me, working on a block print is poetry visualized. I love the way coal black ink freshly rolled onto a newly carved block glistens in the light and the three-dimensional texture the print picks up as it is pulled. There is something totally satisfying about watching a gouge sliding through a block of linoleum or cherry wood. Imagination trumps the senses when you get to mold the shadow's of Plato's cave.
