biography

I was born and raised in the United Kingdom where I studied and taught Home Economics at high school level. However, I had always wanted to pursue an art career and after my husband and I relocated to the United States in 1979 it was eventually here, in California, that I had the opportunity to realize this dream.

TRICIA REICHERT

I regularly work in many different media, but I enjoy printmaking the most.

Hand-made prints are exciting to make and visually compelling to view. I love the process of making the plates and the serendipitous nature of the results. I also enjoy the challenge of designing the images and the changes that inevitably take place in the design as the plates are worked. My latest prints are multiple-plate, color, linoleum or woodcuts. In some instances they are made by the reduction process. The subject matter I choose is quite varied, and can for example, include figures, a series of local birds, or my exploration of architectural structures in various formats. However, in all of these images, my overall aim is to capture a sense of light and three dimensions in print form.
